Here’s my first complete set of Fender-style hardware, in firetruck red. I think my technique has gotten pretty good, now I just need to get more colors.

I finally had some time to myself today. Here’s my first complete set of Fender-style hardware, in firetruck red. I need to get some more colors, but I feel like my technique has gotten pretty solid.

今日はこれを掘ったらおしまいにして、漆の続きをやろう。

This guy’s doing it the old-skool way. I love the simplicity of his workshop. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a power tool in his posts.

I tried out doing a custom-colored tuner not too long ago. Now I just need some orders so I have an excuse to buy more colors ;). I can do new hardware, or refurb your old hardware.

I might get into electroplating soon, if this takes off!

Packin’ up my things and Imma head out west

So I spent a few days in Colorado, and absolutely fell in love with the place. Denver has such a great music scene. I could definitely make a living playing music and working on instruments out there. I’m selling off a great deal of my instruments and parts to pay for this journey, so please let me know if you’re interested. I only ship when using paypal. I have everything from bodies to tuners, bridges to necks. I also have a great deal of wood sitting around for various projects.

Here’s the next project I’m getting into today, a beat up old Strat parts guitar. It’s mint green, with plenty of dents and dings in the finish. The finish on the neck is almost completely gone, and the wood is stained black with finger cheese.

Here’s what I was working on today. A 2004 ‘56 Goldtop Les Paul. I tried to file out this ding, but I couldn’t. I put in a new fret. Next step, filing!

i always end up thinking about the economic damage in superhero movies

In marvel and DC universes, I bet super hero insurance costs extra. They always make it out like the city pays for the damages, though.

PA for Rent

So, I have a pretty nice (albeit a little old) PA system. If anyone wants to rent it on the cheap, let me know. I’m not sure what the going rate is in town, but I’m sure I can beat it. I’d like to get a little more practice in when it comes to running sound. Here’s the specs:

Pair of EV Eliminator mains (w/ stands)
Pair of GTDaudio Monitors
500w QSC Amp
500w Peavey Amp
Behringer 12ch Mixer

I have a handful of mics, and plenty of cables, but anything like drum mics would need to be provided by the performer. If there’s a good market for it, I might invest in a subwoofer as well.

Inlay Complete
That’s 72 pieces of maple cut, trimmed, and fitted by hand.

Once it’s dry i’ll flush things off and see if anything needs repairing,  But first i’m off to fight skeleton pirates while riding on the back of a killer whale.

Nice SPG reference :)
